MEET YOUR COACH
Jay Orta, NASM CPT, RP Certified Nutrition Coach
Nice to meet you! I’m Jay and I’m a Certified Fitness and Nutrition Coach with a background in Behavioral Analysis and a decade of work in the mental health field. I became a coach after my many years of training myself and love for sharing the gym with others. I’ve been a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2019 and Certified Nutrition Coach through Renaissance Periodization as of February 2023. I’ve been weight-training consistently since I was in high-school and it’s been a passion of mine ever since.
My main training location is at Competitive Edge Power and Fitness and I have experience working with clients ages 13-85 years old. I work with clients from all walks of life focusing on Strength, Conditioning, Mobility/Corrective Exercise and Flexible Dieting and Goal Setting. I am constantly following up with my clients in and out of sessions to make sure they are progressing toward their goals.
BACKGROUND: I continue to work in the Disability/Mental Health space as a Behavior Specialist utilizing Functional Behavioral Analysis daily and this informs my approach working with fitness clients.
Often, people are seeking a BIG change in their lives when they hire a coach/trainer in order to get stronger, healthier and feel better about themselves. This often means a lot of changes in their lifestyle in order to reach that goal. My experience working with people on behavioral change is constantly informing how I coach fitness clients in order to achieve the changes they want to make.
Orta Training Philosophy
My mission with Orta Training is to give you a straightforward evidence-based path to improving your health and fitness, achieving your goals, and demystifying all of the BS and myths that the fitness industry puts out there. What I am focused on giving you, are the skills and coaching to learning how to strength-train properly for your goals, learn the methods of Flexible Dieting/food tracking and build a long-term relationship with Fitness for the long-term gains. This is as much an educational service as much as it is a training service! Please ask tons of questions. The more that you put in, the more you get out!
I have no gimmicks for you, magic supplements or any special “fat melting workout.” We are not going to go keto so you can lose weight quickly/unsustainably, so I can gloat about how I got someone short-term results quickly (and not share about them gaining weight back).
Sure, you can find a coach that will try to spoon-feed you that kind of crap, you know it doesn’t work. You’ve tried it before and stopped because it is not sustainable. I will be realistic with you, give you a plan, and help you execute. Taking ACTION and putting in the WORK is what gets RESULTS.

1:1 Personal Training Sessions, Partner Training and Group Strength at Competitive Edge Power and Fitness a private powerlifting and strength training gym for all levels of weight-training enthusiasts who want to reach their goals! You will get a movement assessment and we will create a program for your needs based on the assessment. I will track your progress on an app that is shared with you and updated in real time. In-Person Clients have access to all of the guides and programs that are shared with online coaching clients.

First you will complete an intake form, so I can get to know you, your type of gym access, exercise preferences, experience, current health status and your goals. You will receive an online handbook for the Orta Training Online Coaching Program with instructions for the first week. Then we will start the Check-In process.
